Sailing against foreign horizons. June 10, 2008
Tuesday, 10/06 was the day of departure, but with the wind straight into the home port and football on TV we decided to sleep in the boat and cast off on Wednesday, kl.0845 we loosened the ropes of the dock and the journey had begun. First stop was Södertälje after a day of sailing in the rain and cold. Days before departure was intense, it was the many you wanted to meet and there were still things left to do. But now we are sitting here in Oxelösund after traveling in Valdemar trail-Victoria route. We started at Arkholmen. The sun has shining on us today, but no heat. Tomorrow we sail towards Arkösund.
Bornholm Friday, July 4, 2008
KL.09.57-01juli, to be precise, we left Kalmar to 26 hours later arrive in Svaneke Bornholm .. After 5 hours reduces the wind the engine starts up - then it happens, the engine stops it just puts off. Into the engine compartment forward of the tools due to the wind, we must now ticking us forward. The work situation is not the best. Troubleshooting begins and finally found the error, detect blockage in the fuel hoses. Screws together and hey presto it works after hours of work. Night work and technology. We arrive at a sunny and warm Svaneke where we take forward champagne cold and good, bowls that we finally are foreign. Tired we fall asleep early to wake up early that there is substantial swell in the harbor. So the dc we sail towards Rönne and get a great sailing along Dueodde. Wattles in 12-13m / s and logs around 8.5 knots, the sun blazing down and the wind is warm, when we add, we have 27 degrees Celsius. Imagine that you have to go to Denmark to find summer. Now we will make the city and recharge for the next long voyage to the southern latitudes
Rügen-Hiddensee Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Time to move farther south. The wind says Glowe on Rugen. The first thing you see of the country, is a smaller copy of the white cliffs of Dover. Stunning scenery with these rock walls with thick forest all around. Glowe becomes a positive experience an ancient spa and a health city. Long sandy beach on the harbor that is new and very fresh. Time to set sail again. It was blowing straight towards the wind us so we end up on witte - Hiddensee On our way there we will sail on anything, it is 20m deep! Container or why not a German submarine, they have practice area here. When you start entrance to Witte should really follow the buoys, it is not deep at times, we have only one dm under the keel and the sand banks around. White is a little plutt society in which all Bicycle paths are wide and with cobblestones, so we rented bicycles and take us around Hiddensee. Now we are waiting for the heavy rain and strong winds to subside so that we may change the Baltic Sea to something else.

The journey from Wittte to Burgtiefe can be summed up by Thomas: 15m / s rain rough seas no more. It rocked me so we sacrificed the whiskey to the gods but did not help it. Take down the sail, I had no desire to so, it would roll even more. The rain picks up, shallow water around, it's dark and there are no buoys, lights! But the captain's words, they were down. It was a green approaches. Take a breather before continuing towards the Lobo-Kiel, a trip of 40 distance, and the first phase is completed. Have time for a visit in Kiel before we move to Holtenaur where Kiel Canal starts. Here is the S / Y Shira who is also heading south, we join. Locks were not that difficult and soon we are on the channel's first stop Rendsburg and we are now in port inside the lock of brown Buttle. The rain pours down, and they threaten with winds up to 17 m / s, gale force in the villages tomorrow. So we stop. The canal was not a especially quite boring. A bottle of decent red wine cost 3 euros so it will be bunkering on the day of procedure. Then waiting for the North Sea and canals of Holland to Amsterdam.

After a really windy day we could finally continue. Now begins tidal counting, against Cuxhafen a distance of 17nmbut the log showed 11nm. Surfed at 9 knots in the downstream. Then you had to start with a wake-up call when we were against Nodernye, we were about 100 boats that went out 0530, awesome sight. The following day it was time to change land against Holland and the canals. Locks into Lauwesmeer to get to Dokkumerdiep channel. First stop will be a giant Dokkum nice little Dutch town. The canal goes through the small communities where the houses back / garden located on the canal, looking straight into their home. Everything is green all around and many farms with cows and sheep, so far, everything has been a positive experience. It is incredibly beautiful and picturesque. Is now in Leeuwarden, anchored along with kanlen in the old part of town. But before we came so far we have managed to entangle the mast in the treetops, when we would wait for the next bridge opening - they are many bridges along the canal. So Thomas was hoisted up the mast to fix it
